I am a postdoctoral fellow (2024-2026) at the Maison de la Création et de l’Innovation (MaCI), affiliated with the Centre for Philosophy of Memory and the Performance Lab. My project examines collective and personal memories in cultural bereavement, grief at being culturally uprooted and losing one’s home country.
My research is in empirically-informed philosophy of mind. One strand of my research focuses on grief, and examines profound or “transformative” grief as an unchosen transformative experience, one that alters a person’s sense of what is significant in the world and calls on them to reorganize themselves as an agent. A second strand of my research focuses on the philosophical psychology of attention, particularly affect-biased attention (attention to emotionally salient stimuli).
I received my PhD in 2023 from the University of British Columbia.
